Sometimes when a chocolate craving strikes, you want something really tasty and fast - then our chocolate balls with Chicca Roast are a favorite. This is the recipe that's on hand when you need it most. We love to eat them in phase 3 (before period) when the sweet tooth for something really chocolatey can kick in. They are also completely sugar-, gluten- and dairy-free.
Think a mixture of chocolate, crisp from cocoa nibs, sweet and a little salty. We used fewer dates so that it does not have the same effect on blood sugar. A blood sugar that goes on a roller coaster can cause us to experience worse PMS symptoms such as mood swings, sweet tooth and fatigue.
Sometimes in phase three it doesn't matter what you eat, the only thing you want is something really GOOD and chocolaty and these chocolate balls are really perfect for the cravings that may arise. We have also added collagen to get several important amino acids and 1 teaspoon of maca powder which is an adaptogen that can have a positive effect on our hormones.
2 dl almonds
2-3 tablespoons of cocoa
2-3 tbsp cocoa nibs
0.5 tsp salt
5-6 fresh pitted dates
1.5-2 tbsp almond butter (peanut butter works just as well)
1.5 ghee/tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp Chicca Roast
If you want an extra boost:
1 tablespoon of collagen
1 tsp maca powder
Do this: Mix nuts into a flour. Pour in the remaining ingredients and mix until you have a smooth batter. Hold cocoa nibs and then roll into balls. Into the freezer for a few hours. We always eat ours frozen because the texture is magical then!
