Why are cruciferous vegetables good for the menstrual cycle?

Cruciferous vegetables such as various types of cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower are rich in fiber and contain a substance, Diindolylmethane (DIM), which helps the body get rid of excess estrogen. By eating cruciferous vegetables, you can help the body release estrogen. It can lead to an increased hormonal balance and reduce PMS symptoms that are linked to high estrogen, such as swollen and sore breasts during phase three . They are also packed with fiber and nutrients!

What may be important to know is that raw cabbage and cruciferous vegetables also contain a substance known as goitrogens. When you eat large amounts of raw vegetables, it can negatively affect the thyroid gland. This applies above all to those who have reduced thyroid function. As with other foods, we should not over-consume cruciferous vegetables. Just in time is best ! A tip to reduce goitrogens is to steam or heat the vegetables before eating them.
