Contents BODY LOTION & BODY WASH – Transparency list

Womensync Body Lotion

Navigating between different skin care products can sometimes feel difficult and overwhelming. What does the ingredient list on the back really mean? We have therefore chosen to compile a transparency list where we go through each component and ingredient so that you know what you are applying to your skin. The starting point when we created our products was the following: what do the skin cells need in their natural state? Well, vitamins, amino acids and components that are moisture-preserving and that help maintain a healthy skin barrier.

Concept list

Below we have compiled a list of terms that explains the various components of our Body Lotion and Body Wash where you can see which of the ingredients in our products fall under which category. Further down, you can also see the entire ingredient lists with an explanation of each ingredient.

What does NMF mean?
NMF stands for "Natural Moisturizing Factor" and is a collective name for substances that are found naturally in the skin and have moisturizing properties. They continuously lubricate our skin, so that it should never be dry.

Ingredients in our products that are so-called NMFs:
Glycerin, Sodium PCA, Betaine, Squalane and Lactic Acid (lactic acid).

What does emulsifier mean and why is it used in skin care?
Emulsifiers are basically found in all emulsions (mixture of, for example, water and oil or fat) and its purpose is to hold the formula together over time. Products contain emulsifiers to make it a stable emulsion, that is to say that the water and the fat, for example, should not intersect. We have chosen emulsifiers with skin-friendly/skin-like ingredients and as few preservatives as possible. We have therefore chosen not to use the most common forms of emulsifiers (peg = polyethylene glycol combined with fatty alcohols) but instead chose the ingredients below.

Ingredients in our products that are emulsifiers:
Sorbitan Olivate, Cetearyl Olivate and Glyceryl Stearate Citrate found in many natural and organic products.

What is an emollient and why is it used in skin care?
An emollient is an oil-based ingredient with a softening effect. These are used for a soothing, softening or protective effect on the skin. They are also used as a carrier for other skin products.

Ingredients in our products that are emollients:
Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil and Squalane.

What is a surfactant?
Surfactants are used in cleaning products to dissolve grease and dirt . Many surfactants are drying and irritating to the skin, but there are also those that are milder, which means that there is a difference between surfactants and surfactants. We have chosen mild surfactants in our body wash.

Ingredients in our products that are mild surfactants:
Cocamidopropyl betaine, Coco-betaine, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sodium Methyl and Cocoyl Taurate.

Descriptive list of ingredients

We ourselves find ingredient lists on skin care to be very difficult to understand, therefore below we have summarized all the ingredients for each product with an associated description of the ingredient's function.

All skin care products in the EU must be labeled with their full list of ingredients where each ingredient must be named in a certain way so that all ingredients can be identified. The list of ingredients according to this format is called "INCI" which is short for The International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients. The INCI label is there to ensure that ingredients are written exactly the same way on all product labels in all EU member states. Therefore, Latin names are used for the respective ingredients. This helps to ensure that the contents of products within the EU are reported correctly and that we as consumers can gain insight into the ingredients we choose to use on our bodies. The only downside is that the names are difficult to interpret for an ordinary consumer, therefore you will find a description of each ingredient below.

Body Wash

Ingredients: Aqua, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Betaine, Lactic Acid, Sodium PCA, Coco-Betaine, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride and Sodium Benzoate.

Aqua (water)
Used as a solvent to give the product the right consistency.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine (emollient and surfactant)
An emollient and surfactant extracted from 100% renewable raw materials (coconut). This surfactant is milder than many other common surfactants. Cleansing and softening.

Glycerin (NMF)
Glycerin is found naturally in our skin and acts as a moisture binder.

Betaine (NMF)
Extracted from sugar beet and found in both plants and animals and in human skin cells. Betaine contributes to preserving moisture in the skin and strengthens the skin barrier.

Lactic Acid (NMF)
Lactic acid is something found naturally in the skin and helps the skin stay hydrated.

Sodium Pyrrolidone Carboxylate/Sodium PCA (NMF)
Is an amino acid-based moisturizer that is found naturally in the skin. Helps retain moisture in the skin.

Coco-Betaine (surfactant)
Cleansing ingredient (mild surfactant) extracted from coconut oil.

Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate (surfactant)
Cleansing ingredient (mild surfactant) extracted from coconut oil.

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate/SCI (surfactant)
Cleansing ingredient (mild surfactant) of seed flour extracted from the guar plant. Rated 1 out of 10 on EWG.org where 1 is completely harmless and 10 is dangerous.

Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride (stabilizer and thickener)
Is a thickener used to improve the stability of an emulsion and to make it easier to apply. Extracted from the guar plant.

Sodium Benzoate (preservative)
Helps the product last over time.

Aqua (water)
Used as a solvent to give the product the right consistency.

Butyrospermum Parkii Butter (Shea Butter) (emollient)
Emollient and mimics the lipid content of the skin.

Coco-Caprylate/Caprate (emollient)
